Centre's news
- A glance back over Alexis Pandellé's residency
During the Summer, Alexis Pandellé, artist in residency at the Centre of European Culture, exposed his works in the town of St-Jean d'Angély. On the 14th September, France 3, a French TV Channel, proposed a report on the artist and his works.

- The Centre of European Culture's 20th anniversary
The preparations for the 20th anniversary are underway. The celebrations will take place from the 15th-18 th May 2009. Invitations have been sent out accross Europe, including Russia and Ukrain. We have recieved many enthousiastic responses from lectures, teachers and of course participants, excited about coming back to the atmosphere which they experienced during an encounter which they participated in over the last two decades.
From a practical point of view, this event ties in with a Youth encounter organised by the Centre therefore the accomadation in the Abbey will not be free. Campsite accomodation will be available and hotel accomodation, more costly, is also available.
We are already delighted at the idea of meeting back up with old participants and take a trip down memory lane.
- The Centre of European Culture presents its new assistant director
Gishly Didon
has just been recruted and joins the team as assistant director, replacing Nicolas Lucas. She started her job on the 1st October 2008.
All the team welcomes her to St-Jean d'Angély's Royal Abbey.

- Message from the European Comission
Guaranteeing and promoting children’s rights, in particular their right to protection, enjoyed by all children and adolescents citizens or resident of the European Union, are aims shared by the European Union and its Member States.
Being able to say: “I HAVE THE RIGHT TO PROTECTION” and subsequently being heard is not only a daily challenge for a young person; it is also the affirmation of a fundamental European value, enshrined in Article 24 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.
This is why, on 31 July 2008, in the context of the 2008 competition run by the Directorate-General for Justice, Freedom and Security of the European Commission, entitled "Children’s right to protection", I am offering young people the chance to work together in teams to explore the theme of their own protection in the European Union, so they are better acquainted with this right and are thus in a better position to invoke it when necessary.
