Editorial
It's
the end of the year, traditional wishes are to be made. So I extend
mine whole heartedly to you.
But for us it is above all the occasion to thank all those who support
us, for their political decisions but also for their individual gestures,
words pronounced, emotions shared. These are the sources of our energy.
Two events during 2007's last summer: the simultanious organisation
of two encounters bring together over 120 young Europeans in Sibiou,
Romania and Saint-Jean d'Angély, France. Then, in partnership
with the Poitiers Rectorat and the academic delegation for cultural
actions, an intercultural encounter of young French and French-Canadiens.
2008 will commence on a strong note with a new residency of the ensemble
European Camerata of whom we defend the excellence since 2004. Also
the meeting for all the bearers of the Centre of European Cultures
network in order to decide upon our action plan up until our 20th
anniversary which will be celebrated in 2009.
I believe that 2008 will be, for the European Comission, the year
of "intercultural dialogue". We have not waited 18 years
for 2008!
Who knows, perhaps they will require our savoir-faire. It's Christmas,
we are allowed to dream.
Alain Ohnenwald,
director of Centre of European Culture

ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE DURING 2008
Concerned
by the developement of artists residencies at the Royal Abbey, the
Centre of European Culture would like to host artists during 2007
- 2008. In order to offer artists the means and a place for thought
and creation we give them all the liberty to produce works of their
chioce rather than focusing only on property, aqcuisition and value,
but on the echange that his creation will bring to the people who
live in Saint-Jean-d'Angély..
The Royal Abbey and the municipality of Saint-Jean
d'Angély have transformed themselves, for the period of the
residencies, into a production "Centre", where the population,
the visitors and the young Europeans find themselves implied and share
a real interaction during the course of the works creation.
During
2008 we will be hosting two residences.
Alexis Pandellé and Annette Wendt.

RELOCATE ICI
The association Relocate ici whoes
aime is to help British expats integrate is facing a new challenge!
After meetings with the "Urgences" departement of the Saint-Jean
d'Angély, Saint Louis hospital, we are collaborating together
in order to create a bilingual questionnaire.
This questionnaire, like all our work, is not in order to encourage
expats not to learn French but to help the medical staff offer a quality
service.
This questionnaire is in the first stages of creation and we hope
that it will be available in the hospital early 2008.
Relocate ici celebrated its first anniversary on the 6th November
2007 and we are thrilled with our success. We take this occasion to
thank our members and to wish you all a very merry Christmas and new
year...
